Across the country, electricity generation from nuclear power decreased by 12.3% from January to February. Of the states with significant nuclear generation, only Missouri and Florida showed increases during that period.

Following is a list of the states with significant nuclear energy generation, the amounts (in thousand megawatt-hours) produced in February, and the percentage change from January to February.

How does the month compare with the previous year?

Nationally, nuclear generation decreased by 1.7% from February 2021 to February 2022. 12 states experienced increases within the year.

Generation increased by the greatest percentage in California, which generated 85.1% more nuclear power in February 2022 than in February 2021. Following are the states that increased the most in nuclear power generation compared to last year:

Generation decreased by the greatest percentage in Maryland, where it fell by 37.9 from February 2021.

Which states get the highest percentage of electricity from nuclear?

The answer can change each month. In February, New Hampshire rose to the top of the list.
